This morning I woke up with the words; ‘those who trust in the Lord will renew their strength, they will rise up with wings like eagles, they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint’. Isaiah 40:31
As I was praying in tongues I saw a vision. Firstly I was mounted on the back of an eagle, soaring thousands of meters above the earth. Then suddenly I saw many people, the church, flying with me, riding on their own eagles.
Next, with eagle precision vision, I saw someone knelt down in her room. Overwhelmed with life, she remained in a low position only able to see the four walls of her house. She could hear voices outside, but from her perspective, she could not seeing anything. It was impossible to see beyond the room she was in…
When she started to pray she just didn’t have the words. Tears streamed down her face while she battled in this place of prayer. The moment she began to pray in heavenly tongues, it was as if someone had handed her a golden key. An eagle descended and picked her up. She climbed up onto the back of the eagle and moments later she ascended towards the heavens, soaring at the greatest heights without doing anything.
A Heavenly Perspective
The voice of the Lord spoke to my spirit. He said ‘Look at the eagle, she doesn’t need to force herself to fly; flying is part of her divine nature, her created design. All she needs to do is spread her wings, lift herself up tall, and catch the wind’.
The perspective from this place was magnificent. The mountains appeared almost flat and I barely notice the valleys. But the view was so beautiful.
Have you ever flown in a plane above the earth? The perspective is totally different. When you fly above the city of Rio de Janeiro at night, it is impossible not to recognise the vastness of this city; 9 million people living here. But day to day, most of us focus on those people around us. Rarely do we give much thought to the existence of others in our city or neighbourhood… because we can’t see them.
The world is big; really Big! Our earthly vision only permits us to see from below looking upwards. Consequently, it is almost impossible to see the greater purposes of God in all things. But when we go up into the heavenly realms with him, we receive his perspective instead. We see that everything works together in order to advance the Kingdom of God; just as we witness from the plane how Rio functions as a city. Here we will find the answers we have been searching for.
Now, during this time of rest, he is calling us to rise above it all and rest with him in heavenly places. Catch the wind of the Spirit and soar. Maybe this current season seems to you a dry, arid desert; maybe you are feeling afraid among the threats and lies of the enemy. But God lovingly looks after his after people.
Rise Up with Wings Like Eagles
Did you know that an eagle’s nest is always located in the highest places? From there she has an uncompromised perspective. Her vision is perfect; she sees the movements of the enemy from far away. So do you think she is concerned about him? No! Because she lives in the highest realms. The majority of her time is spent up there. She is aware of what is happening down there on the earth and she knows where is safe to land and where it is not. Any moment a potential enemy takes her by surprise, speeding towards her on the attack, she simply goes up. That’s it! An enemy on the ground has no way to pursue her in their air… and because she is the biggest, most powerful bird, any potential enemy in the sky will be quickly defeated. She is the queen of the air.
Moreover, while she is teaching her chicks to fly and to hunt, she protects them. When an enemy comes, she grabs them and flies off with them on her wings. This is what God does with us. He is a good father, and he wants us to learn how to soar in the heavenly realms with him. It is His desire. So he teaches us with great patience.
The Promised Land is Waiting
The important thing here is to wait and rest in the Lord. This coming week, starting tomorrow night by the Hebrew Calendar, is Holy Week. If you were to go to Israel at this time you would begin to understand a little bit about God’s Sabbath rest. Ironically, right now the whole world is in this position of Sabbath.
The Promised Land is right in front of us. It’s critical that we keep focused. Don’t focus on what is going on in the world, but keep fix your eyes on Jesus. Soar with wings like eagles with him now because in the Promised Land of the harvest there will be a lot of work to do. If we want to run and not grow weary, walk and not faint, it is essential that we use this time of rest to go up into the heavenly realms with God. Learn now, so that then when we pass through this season, we will be ready to advance the Kingdom in a radical way.
It’s time to rise up with wings like eagles once more.
